A professional baby photographer should always understand the value of
time and how it translates to the actual photo shoot. Although you may
have a baby photo shoot scheduled for about 2 hours or so somewhere
along the way, the fact remains that you might not have as much time the
moment that the baby comes in.
Babies are extremely moody and you will
never really know what’s up with them.
They can be fairly happy and workable one moment and then completely volatile and throwing temper tantrums left and right during the next. You need to know how to make the most of a good moment while you still have it. It might not be the most convenient thing in the world but what you need remind yourself of is the fact that after all has been said and done, it is workable. What is important is that you are willing to come up with a certain method or with a certain kind of work schedule for your shots during a baby photo shoot, you will be able to pull it off. Work fast and work hard before the baby loses patience.
As an expert baby photographer, you also need to come prepared all the time for the shoot. You need to know what kind of prep work you need to go through with in the first place. Make sure that you come in at least 2 hours early for the shoot. This is so that you will have more than enough time to get things set up and done the right way. You might not have everything done perfectly just yet but you will at least be able to assure yourself that you will end up having most of the things that you could possibly need for the baby photo shoot. Get your lighting equipment, props, and even some plush toys arranged in advanced so that you have most of the right things going for you the moment that the baby starts to come in. You can go ahead and start off with the photo shoot as soon as the baby and his parents arrive.
Focus on baby
Play around with the details but keep your focus on the baby as much as possible. As a new baby photographer, you will at times be a little carried away with the details and with the excitement of shooting your first baby photo shoot. It is important that you get to keep yourself grounded at all times no matter what happens. Make sure that you get to go out of your way to really get things done right. Don’t get lost in all the embellishments. At the end of the day, the main focus of the shoot should be on the baby a majority of the time and you need to keep it at that as much as possible.
Include family members
Don’t forget to include the family members if it is something that is readily available. It can be an instant family photo shoot. It is something that the parents will gamely join in on.
